Is it true that split-ends causes your hair not to grow anymore?

I dont believe spit ends stop hair growth. But the spit ends can move further throught out your hair. Causing you to cut more which shorterns your hair. But how to make your hair grow. Being healthy, getting excerise. Take biotin pills. and I use burt bees nautral shampoo :) I dont want chemicals in my hair
